Caring for each other...

Every day — even now — some of our patients and team members are facing a personal crisis.

You might never realize in your daily interactions what people are going through, but these issues are happening all around you. People you know are struggling to find a ride to treatment, afford medication, pay their rent, or care for a loved one after an unexpected tragedy.

We give back for them.

Impact Stories

Mahwish Ahmed, Team Member

“I am grateful that I work for a place that has something like this to help out anybody who needs it.”

First, Mahwish’s family lost their small business to a fire, then her father suffered two strokes and lost his sight…and his ability to rebuild the business. Suddenly, Mahwish was responsible for two households: her parents’ and her own, with all the medical bills in addition. She needed help, and the Employee Assistance Fund and the generosity of her coworkers gave it to her.

Kathy Scott, Heart Transplant Patient

“I can’t say enough good things about the program. Whenever I’m having a bad day, I remember how blessed and lucky I am.”

Kathy’s mother died of cardiomyopathy, so she knew how serious it was when she was diagnosed herself. After her heart transplant, she was struggling to afford medication critical to her recovery. The Patient Assistance Fund helped her receive the medication she needed to heal after her transplant and thrive post-transplant.

Joseph Richer, Oncology Patient

“I’m now five years post-surgery and in remission. I couldn’t say that without those rides to my primary surgery and follow-up appointments.”

Joseph discovered his colon cancer thanks to a TCHHN nurse who encouraged him to get a colonoscopy, and our Patient Assistance Fund helped him all the way through treatment and recovery by ensuring he had rides to get to the hospital. A ride can seem like a small thing, but for many, it isn’t. And Joseph is living proof.
